A decorative vase made from birch with a distressed look. I love working with birch because when it starts to spalt it has very striking lines. Spalting means that a piece of wood has started to decay and it will cause very striking dark lines in the wood. Birch starts this process pretty quickly compared to other woods . No need to worry though, once the piece is finished and sealed the process will go no farther. It's 7 inches wide by 8 1/2 inches tall and it has feet just big enough to lift it off of the surface. It has just a little bit of green and blue to give it a distressed look but it has been finished with several coats of high gloss polyurethane for a deep shine so it looks distressed and elegant at the same time. For decoration only, not intended to hold water.
