This piece is made from oak and I don't work with oak very often. I got into a couple pieces from this batch of oak and the pith is totally destroyed but I decided to move over to one side of the pith and leave the hole in the piece. After I turned, it I torched it to darken the grain, then I filled some of the larger cracks with gold leaf paint. It warped enough that the neck actually tilts to one side but I like it. Finally it was finished with several coats of high gloss polyurethane, buffing between coats to give it a rich deep shine. So, it's torched, warped and adorned and that's why I decided to name it "Tortured and Elegant. It's 8 inches wide by 6 1/2 inches tall.
